A look into the 2019 911 GTS
What colour most easily comes to mind when you think of a Porsche 911? Many of you are likely picturing a bright, glossy red. Japanese brand fans might lean towards Renaissance Red, and pony car fans will usually think of Ruby Red, but if you’re on the up and up with our current line up of Porsche factory shades then you are familiar, of course, with Carmine Red.
That’s the very colour that glimmers on this 2019 911 C2 GTS under the showroom lights; a shade that is both timeless and striking. We may joke about the color’s association with a midlife crisis, but you can put that stigma behind you at the car’s top speed of 310 km/hr. A twin turbo 3.0 litre flat-six churns the crank with roughly 450 horsepower and 405 foot-pounds of torque while the 7-speed PDK transmission will run that power to the rear wheels in 3.5 seconds when you make the run to 100 clicks.
The car is no slouch in the luxury department either, inside is oozing with gorgeous high-quality material that makes the cabin feel like your own luxury spaceship. The steering wheel has been upgraded to the Sport Steering wheel with electric steering assist. The seats can be adjusted 18 ways and are heated to keep you comfortable for everyday driving, with the side bolsters having just enough padding to keep you positioned for spirited driving. While the seats keep you situated, the infotainment system will keep your mind at ease with the Bose Surround Sound System and Bluetooth connectivity to stream your phone library hands-free while you drive. When it’s time to find destinations unknown you’ll have a little help from an ultra-detailed and intuitive navigation setup on the Porsche Connect system. Finishing off the high spec cockpit is the sporty look of (real) carbon trim and an alcantara headliner.
All that powertrain and interior weighs the 911 C2 GTs in at roughly 3,200 pounds, which at some point you’ll need to be able to slow down. Bringing the car to a stop with ease is a set of 6-piston front brakes and 13-inch rotors with a 4-piston rear caliper clamping onto a 12-inch rotor. The brakes are kept cool by integrated wind deflectors on the lower control arms so you can go a little further into the threshold should the need for harsh braking arise.
